What is the Strawberry Distance Challenge?

The Strawberry Distance Challenge is 5 kilometers long (3.1 miles), 10 kilometers (6.2), or 1 mile fun run.

Strawberry Distance Challenge is designed for fitness awareness and fundraising for charities.

What is the 5k Ruck?

American soldiers have been doing a simple fitness activity since the American Revolution, and it’s turned our military into the fittest, most feared fighting force in the history of the world.

That activity: rucking, or walking with a weighted pack on your back.

The activity gets its name from “ruck sacks,” which is military talk for “backpack.” “Rucking” is marching or walking while wearing your ruck sack (which is always loaded down with gear). For the SDC, if you weigh 150 pounds or less, 15 pounds of weight;  151 pounds or more, 25 pounds of weight. This could be a weighted backpack or small child. You will start right behind the 10K runners and take the running 5K route. Participates get medals and shirts and awards tied into the 5K for this division.

Is the run timed?

Yes. The run will be chipped timed with disposable chips/bibs

Are there awards?

YES! Age divisions are determined based on your age on race day. All times are based on the official net time. Awards are not shipped, so make sure you are present at the award ceremony after the run.
